Zimbabwe's official Highway Code classifies all road traffic signs into five distinct classes:
- Class A: Danger Warning Signs — Equilateral triangles with red borders pointing upwards.
- Class B: Regulatory Signs — Circles and octagons giving mandatory commands or strict prohibitions.
- Class C: Informative & Direction Signs — Rectangles providing route navigation, distances, and services.
- Class D: Traffic Light Signals (Robots) — Electrically operated light signals controlling flow.
- Class E: Carriageway Markings — White and yellow lines painted onto the road surface.
★
GOLDEN RULE FOR EXAMS: The shape and border colour immediately identify the class and purpose of a sign before you can even read the symbol inside.
